Mode Plagal, a Greek group formed in Athens in 1990, is known for blending traditional Greek music with jazz, funk, and other international styles. The band was founded by Thodoris Rellos on saxophone and vocals, Kleon Antoniou on guitar and vocals, and Takis Kanellos on drums. Mode Plagal initially released two instrumental albums, Mode Plagal (1995) and Mode Plagal II (1998), before adding vocals to their third album, Mode Plagal III (2001). In 2002, they collaborated with the Turkish group Bosphorus to record the album Beyond the Bosphorus (2003). Mode Plagal continues to release notable albums such as In The Belly Of The Beast (2010) and Πέρα Από Τα Σύνορα (2014), which feature collaborations with the Cretan band Hainides and musician Psarantonis.
