Greek singer, actress and director Martha Frindzila was born in Eleusis on April 7, 1972. She studied acting and singing and made her professional acting debut in 1993, before becoming a director at the National Theatre of Greece. In 1999, she directed her own theater company and trained young actors, before teaching at the Athens School of Dramatic Art from 2006 to 2012. From 2003, she collaborated with composer and musician Thanasis Papakonstantinou on an album of traditional music, Τα Ζωντανά, with the group Λαϊκεδέλικα (Laïkedélika). Married to painter, composer and musician Vassilis Mantzoukis, she went on to record the experimental folk album Baumstrasse with him, released by Libra Music in 2007. In 2009, the double album 2 Νύχτες Στα Μέγαρα was released, after a series of concerts and before touring again with Haris Alexiou, then with Nikos Xydakis, whose songs she interpreted. She collaborates with other artists including Themos Skandamis, Takis Farazis, pianist Demetrios Lentzos or drummer Dimitris Mitsotakis. Her duet with Panos Haritidis, "Νερό Στην Βάρκα", is the subject of an electro remix by Dim Angelo and Dimitris Zarogiannis.
