Maddalena Del Gobbo, born near Udine, Italy, is a cellist known for her skill in playing the viola da gamba. She began piano and ballet lessons at four, transitioning to cello at eight. Del Gobbo studied at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (MUK), earning a master's degree in cello. Her breakthrough came in 2012 as a finalist in the Principe Francesco Maria Ruspoli International Viola da Gamba Competition. She has performed extensively across Europe and China, including notable appearances at the Musica Antiqua concert series in Vienna and with members of the Wiener Philharmoniker. Del Gobbo founded the ensemble Ad Cor, specializing in viola da gamba chamber music. Her discography includes Viola d’Emozione (2014), Henriette, the Princess of the Viol (2016) and Maddalena and the Prince (2019).
