Kotebel, a progressive‑rock group formed in 1999, emerged from the solo project of Carlos Guillermo Plaza in Madrid. Plaza’s early work, including the 2000 debut Structures, showcased his keyboard expertise and featured guest performers such as Omar Acosta and Carlos Franco. The band’s first major release, Fragments Of Light (2003), marked its transition to a group, with guitarist César García Forero and vocalist Carolina Prieto contributing. Subsequent albums include Omphalos (2006) and Ouroboros (2009), after which Kotebel toured Japan and appeared at Italian festivals. The group released Concerto for Piano and Electric Ensemble (2012) and a live album in 2014.
