The Darkside, a British indie rock band, was formed in 1989 in England by Pete "Bassman" Bain and Sterling "Rosco" Roswell. Both members had previously been part of Spacemen 3, with Bain on bass and Roswell on drums. The band was completed by singer Nick Hayden and guitarist Kevin Cowen. They secured a deal with Situation Two, an indie sublabel of Beggars Banquet Records. After their first EP was released, Hayden left during a UK tour, after which Bain took over vocal duties. In 1990, they released All That Noise, followed by Melomania in 1992. The band underwent several lineup changes, including Roswell moving from drums to keyboards and Craig Wagstaff joining as the new drummer. After Situation Two refused to release a third album, The Darkside disbanded in 1993 due to dissatisfaction with their public image.
