The Fifth Avenue Band was a rock group from New York City, United States. The band was formed in 1965 as The Strangers by high school students Kenny Altman (vocals and bass), Jerry Burnham (vocals and guitar), and Peter Gallway (vocals and guitar). They released their first single Land Of Music / I Need Your Love Inside Me in 1965. In the late 1960s, they reformed with Pete Heywood (drummer), Jon Lind (singer), and Murray Weinstock (keyboardist) as The Fifth Avenue Band. They signed to Reprise Records in 1969, and released their self-titled debut album Fifth Avenue Band, produced by Jerry Yester, Zal Yanovsky, and Erik Jacobsen of The Lovin’ Spoonful. The band's music spanned rock, folk-rock, country-rock, and jazz elements. They disbanded in 1970 but reunited in 1990 for the album Really, featuring Jeff Pevar and Hamish Stuart.
