The Toys, a girl group from Jamaica, New York, were formed in 1961. The trio consisted of Barbara Harris, Barbara Parritt, and June Montiero. Barbara Harris began singing at an early age before moving to Queens, New York, where she joined the group The Charlettes with Bobby Uri as manager. In 1965, after signing with DynoVoice Records, The Toys released their hit single "A Lover’s Concerto", which reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold over 2 million copies. Their follow-up hit was "Attack!", which reached the Top 20 and was included in their 1966 album The Toys Sing "A Lover's Concerto" and "Attack!". The group appeared on TV programs such as Hullabaloo and Shindig! and had a cameo role performing "Attack!" in the 1967 beach movie It’s a Bikini World. In 1967, they moved to Musicor Records but only produced one minor single before disbanding. The band received a gold record from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their album sales and Barbara Harris continued her musical career with solo projects and collaborations.
