The Regents are an American doo-wop vocal group from New York, active from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. The original lineup included Guy Villari, Sal Cuomo, and Chuck Fassert on vocals, Tony Gravagna on bass, and Don Jacobucci on sax/baritone. Formed in 1959, the group initially consisted of members who had previously been part of another band called The Monterays. The Regents gained significant attention with their hit single "Barbara Ann", released on January 24, 1961. This song peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later reached number 2 when covered by The Beach Boys in 1965 for their album Beach Boys' Party!. They followed this success with "Runaround", which charted at number 28 in 1961, as well as "Liar" and "Lonesome Boy" in the same year.
