Uncanny X-Men, an Australian pop rock band formed in late 1980 in Melbourne's western suburbs, featured lead singer Brian Mannix. Their debut extended play, SaliveOne!, was released in 1982 and peaked at number 40 on the Kent Music Report. The band's breakthrough came with their single "How Do You Get Your Kicks" in March 1983. Their debut studio album, 'Cos Life Hurts (1985), released in June 1985, reached number 2 on the Australian Kent Music Report and included their highest-charting single "50 Years" which peaked at number 4. The band performed at the Oz for Africa concert in July 1985 as part of the global Live Aid program. Their second album, What You Give is What You Get, was released in 1986 and reached number 19 on the charts. Uncanny X-Men disbanded in 1987 but reunited several times throughout the years.
