Big Pig was an Australian funk, rock, and pop band formed in 1985. The group initially consisted of Oleh Witer on vocals and percussion, who had previously been part of several bands, including Bang. Inspired by Japanese taiko drummers, Witer aimed to create a unique sound with orchestrated percussion parts. Big Pig made their concert debut in February 1986 and released a self-financed EP in May of the same year. The EP featured tracks such as "Hungry Town" and "Money God", which later became notable singles for the band. They signed with Mushroom Records' imprint White Label Records, which re-released their debut EP in October 1986 as a double-12" with bonus dance mixes. In November 1987, Big Pig released their first studio album Bonk, which reached number 5 on the Kent Music Report and peaked at number 2 in New Zealand. The album included hits such as "Hungry Town" (number 18), "Breakaway" (number 8) and "Big Hotel" (number 40). At the ARIA Music Awards of 1987, Big Pig were nominated for Best New Talent and Best Video for "Hungry Town", and Witer won Best Cover Artist for their debut EP. The band released their second album You Lucky People in November 1990 before disbanding in 1991.
