Irina Sergeyevna Brzhevskaya, born on December 27, 1929 in Moscow, was a Soviet Russian singer. She began her artistic journey studying ballet and theater at the Pioneers Palace before entering the vocal department of the musical school in 1947. In 1953, she joined Dmitry Pokrass's railway jazz orchestra as a soloist. Two years later, Brzhevskaya performed with Eddie Rosner's orchestra. She organized and led the ensemble Vesna (transl. Spring) from 1957 until 1991. In 1964, she won the festival of pop songs in Dresden. Brzhevskaya was awarded the title Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1978 and received the Order of Honor in 2000. Brzhevskaya passed away on April 17, 2019, at the age of 89.
