Maria Leonidovna Pakhomenko, born on March 25, 1937, in Leningrad, RSFSR, was a Soviet and Russian singer. Her breakthrough came with the song "Kachaet, kachaet, kachaet..." in 1963, recorded for the theater play Idu na Grozu. Throughout the 1960s and mid-1970s, Pakhomenko became one of the leading figures on the Soviet stage, with her songs frequently aired on radio and television. She toured extensively within the USSR and internationally. Notable collaborations include works by prominent Soviet composers such as Valery Gavrilin's "Любовь останется". In 1971, she became the first Soviet pop singer to win the Grand Prix at the Golden Orpheus song contest. She was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation in 1998. Maria Leonidovna Pakhomenko passed away on March 8, 2013.
