FictionJunction YUUKA, a Japanese pop duo, consists of vocalist Yuuka Nanri (born 2003) and composer Yuki Kajiura, who also performs keyboards and writes lyrics. The pair met while Yuki Kajiura composed for the stage group Minami Aoyama Shōjo Kagekidan, where Yuuka Nanri performed. Their first recording, "Akatsuki no Kuruma", appeared as an insert song in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and was later released as a single on 22 September 2004, reaching Number ten on the Oricon weekly charts and selling 19,481 copies in its first week. The duo’s debut single, "Hitomi no Kakera", was the opening theme for the anime Madlax and was released on 8 May 2004. In 2005, they released "Honoo no Tobira" for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, becoming the first voice‑actor single to hit Number one on Oricon daily rankings. Their debut album, Destination, was issued on 23 November 2005 and peaked at Number nine on the Oricon weekly chart. Subsequent releases include the single "Kōya Ruten" (22 November 2006) for Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto and the album Circus on 4 July 2007. FictionJunction YUUKA performed live concerts such as Premium Live 2007 and participated in Yuki Kajiura Live tours. The duo’s work continues to be featured in anime soundtracks and live performances under the FlyingDog label.
