Claire Chevallier is a Franco-Belgian pianist specializing in the fortepiano, born in 1969 in Lyon. She studied at the conservatories of Nancy and Strasbourg under Hélène Boschi before training with Bruno Rigutto in Paris. Chevallier completed her education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Guy Van Waas, where she received a First Prize for piano and chamber music. Her interest in historical performance was sparked during a masterclass with Jos van Immerseel, leading her to specialize in the technical evolution of period instruments. In 2004, she began teaching fortepiano at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and has served as a juror for international competitions since 2007. Chevallier is also known for her extensive collection of Érard pianos dating from 1842 to 1920. Her discography includes recordings of Franck, Saint-Saëns, and Francis Poulenc with Immerseel, as well as the 2011 album Fever, featuring the piece “Légendes de Saint François” by Liszt.
