Jack Martin Händler, born on August 30, 1947, in Bratislava, Slovakia, was a conductor and violinist. He began his musical education at the Conservatory of Bratislava before continuing his studies at the Moscow Conservatory under David Oistrach. Händler initially pursued a career as a violinist but later transitioned to conducting. In 1978, he emigrated to Germany. A significant milestone in his career was the founding of the Solistes Européens Luxembourg in 1989, where he served as the artistic director until 2009. Händler received notable recognitions, including being named an ambassador for intercultural dialogue by the European Commission in 2008 and an ambassador for innovation and creativity in 2009. Händler passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 75.
