Andreas Weiser is a German percussionist, composer, and journalist born in 1957 in Bergisch Gladbach. He studied history and Germanistics at the Technische Universität Berlin before becoming a freelance contributor for outlets such as GEO, taz, and Tagesspiegel. Since 1986, Weiser has traveled extensively to Brazil, gathering material for award-winning radio features and documentary films. His musical career includes worldwide concert tours and the release of more than 30 recordings as both a leader and session musician. He released his debut solo album, Daily Stories, in 2001, followed by projects such as Close Distance in 2008 and Fuzzylogic in 2013. Weiser is also a prolific composer for television, contributing scores to numerous episodes of the series Tatort. His work has been honored with the Journalistenpreis Entwicklungspolitik des BMZ and the 2022 Robert-Geisendörfer-Preis. Weiser continues to collaborate with international ensembles, including Conexão Berlin, with whom he released the album Vagabundo in 2024.
