Abéti Masikini, born Elisabeth Finant on November 9, 1954, in Stanleyville, Congo Belge (now Kisangani, Democratic Republic of the Congo), was a Congolese singer. She began her musical journey at an early age, initiated by her father into piano and later performing as a choir member. Masikini's breakthrough came in 1971 when she participated in a song contest organized by Gérard Madiata, finishing third. This led to the formation of her own group with her brother Jean Abumba on guitar. In 1973, she released her first single, "Mutoto Wangu et Safari", which gained significant success across West Africa. Her international career took off after performing at Paris's Olympia and New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1975. Masikini passed away on September 28, 1994, in the Paris region.
