Aurlus Mabélé, born Aurélien Miatsonama on October 24, 1953 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, was a French-Congolese singer and composer. In 1974, he co-founded the group Les Ndimbola Lokole with Pedro Wapechkado, Mav Cacharel, and Jean Baron. Mabélé later moved to Europe and formed Loketo in 1986 with Diblo Dibala and Mav Cacharel. His soukous music gained widespread popularity across Africa. Notable albums include Embargo (1991) and Fiesta d'Or (2001). Throughout his career, he sold over 10 million albums. Despite suffering a stroke in 2009, Mabélé continued to perform, including a concert in the West Indies that year. He passed away on March 19, 2020, due to complications from COVID-19 while hospitalized in Eaubonne, France.
