Bennie Wallace, born on November 18, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is an American saxophonist. Influenced by various genres including rhythm and blues and gospel, he began performing in local clubs. He studied clarinet at the University of Tennessee before moving to New York City in 1971. Wallace's first recordings were on Friends by Oregon in 1976. He formed his own trios starting in 1977, collaborating with musicians like Tommy Flanagan and Chick Corea. Notable albums include The Fourteen Bar Blues (1978) under the Enja label and The Art of the Saxophone (1987). Wallace also contributed to albums by Franco Ambrosetti and George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, and undertook several European tours. He was awarded the German Record Prize for his debut album The Fourteen Bar Blues.
