Claire Martin, born September 6, 1967 in Wimbledon, London, is a British jazz singer. Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald's Song Books, she began her career at 19, performing in a hotel band at the Savoy Hotel and later aboard the cruise ship Queen Elizabeth. In 1992, Martin released her debut album The Waiting Game after signing with Linn Records. She opened for Tony Bennett at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival that year. Throughout her career, she collaborated with notable artists such as Richard Rodney Bennett and Kenny Barron, and performed with orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the BBC Big Band. Notable albums include Too Darn Hot! (2002) and Too Much in Love to Care (2012). She won Best Vocalist at the British Jazz Awards in 2009 and 2010 and received the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2011.
