Peter Wieland, born Ralf Sauer on July 6, 1930, in Stralsund, Germany, was a singer and music educator. After World War II, he moved to Köthen and began singing in the local church choir. Wieland's breakthrough came when he won a main prize at the All German Singing Competition in Leipzig in the mid-1950s. He studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. Wieland released several albums during his career, including Immer wieder sind’s die Frau’n (1980) and Weihnachtszeit Wielandzeit (1999). After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he continued to perform on various platforms such as Sommermelodien and the MDR program Weihnachten bei uns. Wieland passed away on March 2, 2020.
