Denis Murphy (born on November 14, 1910 in Ireland) was an Irish fiddler and traditional musician from Lisheen, Gneeveguilla, County Kerry. Murphy was taught the fiddle by Pádraig O'Keeffe alongside his sister, Julia Clifford, and performed with the Lisheen Fife and Drum Band. Murphy married Julia Mary Sheehan in 1942 and emigrated to New York City in 1949. In the United States, he performed with the Ballinamore Ceili Band and musicians including Paddy Killoran, James Morrison, and Andy McGann. Murphy returned to Ireland in 1952 and permanently settled in Lisheen in 1965. He was a frequent performer at Dan O'Connell’s pub in Knocknagree. Murphy and Clifford released the album The Star Above the Garter in 1969. Murphy died on April 7, 1974. After his death, the albums Music from Sliabh Luachra Volume 1: Kerry Fiddles (1977) and the solo collection Music from Sliabh Luachra (1995) were released.
