Julia Clifford, born on June 19, 1914, in Gneeveguilla, County Kerry, Ireland, was a fiddler and composer known for her contributions to Irish traditional music. She learned to play the fiddle from Padraig O'Keeffe. In the late 1930s, Clifford emigrated to Scotland and then London, where she married John Clifford in 1941. The couple performed in Irish dance halls during the 1940s and later returned to Ireland, recording with the Star of Munster Ceili Band. In the 1960s, Clifford gained popularity during the folk boom and recorded several albums, including "The Star Above the Garter" (1968) with her brother Denis Murphy. She died on June 18, 1997.
