Otto Ackermann was a Romanian conductor born on October 18, 1909, in Bucharest. He studied at the Bucharest Academy of Music and the Berlin Hochschule. Ackermann performed his debut at age 15 with the Royal Romanian Opera and held conducting appointments in Düsseldorf, Brno, and Bern. He recorded material with orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Ackermann collaborated with Franz Lehár on operetta recordings and conducted Richard Strauss's “Four Last Songs” featuring Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. He died on March 9, 1960.
