Calixto Sánchez Marín, born on July 27, 1946, in Mairena del Alcor, Spain, is a Spanish flamenco singer. From an early age, he showed a keen interest in flamenco singing but practiced in secret. His breakthrough came in 1965 when he won first prize at the Antonio Mairena Flamenco Singing Competition. This victory marked the beginning of his career. Sánchez also won first prize at the Festival of Granada in 1972, was named Sevillian of the Year by Cadena SER, and received the Giraldillo Award at the first Seville Flamenco Biennial in 1980. Sánchez's discography includes notable albums such as Calle ancha (1990) and Andado el camino (2010). He has also served as director of the Centro Andaluz de Flamenco and is currently president of the Tertulia Flamenca de Enseñantes.
