Manuel Muñoz Alcón, known as Manolo Sanlúcar, was a guitarist and composer born on November 24, 1943, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain. Raised by his guitar-playing father, Isidro Muñoz, he began performing as a child and won his first prize at age eight. By fourteen, Sanlúcar joined the company of Pepe Marchena and later collaborated with La Paquera de Jerez. In 1972, he won the first prize at the Folk Music Festival in Campione d'Italia, Italy, and received the National Flamenco Guitar Prize. His notable albums include Manolo Sanlucar En Japón (1979) and La Voz Del Color (2008). Sanlúcar earned numerous awards, such as the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2015 and the International Flamenco Award in 2021. He passed away on August 27, 2022, in Jerez de la Frontera.
