Writing On The Wall, a Scottish rock band from Edinburgh, was initially known as the Jury before changing their name in 1968. Their manager, Brian Waldman, moved them to London and had them perform at his club, Middle Earth. That same year, they recorded a BBC radio session for disc jockey John Peel and made a live demo album. Their debut studio album, The Power of the Picts, was released in 1969 on Waldman's Middle Earth label. The band continued to perform and record, releasing notable singles such as "Child On A Crossing" (1969) and "Man Of Renown" (1973). They also recorded another session for John Peel in 1971. However, the band faced several lineup changes and gave up recording an album in 1973 after their equipment was stolen in December of that year.
