Speed, Glue & Shinki was a Japanese heavy metal and psychedelic rock power trio formed in Tokyo in 1970 by guitarist Shinki Chen and record producer Ikuzo Orita. The band initially consisted of Chen, Masayoshi Kabe on bass, and Joey Smith on drums and vocals. Their debut album, Eve, was released in 1971, followed by their self-titled second studio album in 1972. During the recording sessions for the second album, Masayoshi Kabe left the band, leading to the recruitment of Mike Hanopol as his replacement. The group disbanded in late 1972 due to internal conflicts. Notable later releases include the reissues of both albums on vinyl by Atlantic in 2019. Joey Smith died in 2019, followed by Masayoshi Kabe in 2020.
