Iracema de Sousa Ferreira, known professionally as Nora Ney, was born on March 23, 1922, in Olaria, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She began her career as a singer, initially performing at local radio stations and events. Her breakthrough came with the release of "Ninguém Me Ama" in 1952, which became the first Brazilian record to achieve gold certification by selling over 300,000 copies. Nora Ney's career spanned decades, marked by notable songs such as "De Cigarro Em Cigarro", and "Se Eu Morresse Amanhã". She was also the first Brazilian artist to record a rock song with her version of "Ronda Das Horas" in 1955. Nora Ney's international tours included performances in Argentina, China, Russia, and other countries. Her political views led her to oppose the military regime, resulting in exile to Russia. She passed away on October 28, 2003, in Rio de Janeiro.
