Mainpoint, a German dark rock band from Rostock, was formed in 1996 as a trio. The group initially released their debut demo Zungenfleisch and performed live before welcoming keyboardist Silke to the lineup. This was followed by the EP Lost senses in 1997. In 2001, Mainpoint released their studio album Heaven / Earth under Morbid Records/SPV. The band underwent a change in personnel, including a new drummer and guitarist Ulf R., before releasing their album Planet Paradise. In 2007, Mainpoint released Under Water through Dritte Wahl Records, an independent label founded by the band Dritte Wahl from Rostock.
