Brandi Wells, born Marguerite J. Pinder on May 13, 1955 in Chester, Pennsylvania, was an American soul singer whose early training included performances with Fat Larry's Band, Breeze, and Slick before launching a solo career. In 1981 she released her debut album Watch Out on Fantasy Records, which peaked at number 37 on the US Billboard R&B chart and produced the single "Watch Out", reaching number 27 on the US Hot R&B/Hip‑Hop Songs chart and number 16 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart; the track also entered the UK Singles Chart at number 74 in February 1982. She followed with the 1985 album 21st Century Fox on Omni Records, though it did not replicate the earlier commercial success. Wells continued to perform and collaborate within the soul community until her death from breast cancer on March 24, 2003, at age 47, leaving a concise legacy marked by a notable charting single and a debut album that remains her most recognized work.
