Orquesta Mondragón are a Spanish pop rock and comedy rock ensemble from San Sebastián, formed in 1976 around Javier Gurruchaga. The group name refers to the psychiatric hospital in the town of Mondragón. Comedian Popotxo Ayestarán was a member of the ensemble. The group released the debut album Muñeca hinchable in 1979 through EMI, which included the songs “Ponte la peluca” and “Muñeca hinchable”. In 1980, the ensemble released the album Bon voyage, featuring the songs “Viaje con nosotros” and “Caperucita feroz”. Their discography includes the albums Bésame, tonta (1982), Cumpleaños feliz (1983), and ¡Es la guerra! (1984). Gurruchaga and the group released the live album Rock & Roll Circus in 1985 and the studio album Ellos las prefieren gordas in 1987. The ensemble released the compilations Viaje con nosotros a través de 21 éxitos feroces in 2002 and ¡Viva Mondragón! in 2006. Ayestarán died in 2020.
