Airrace, a British hard rock band, was formed in September 1982 in the United Kingdom. The group's initial lineup included Laurie Mansworth on guitar, Phil Lewis on vocals, Jim Reid on bass, and Simon Tomkins on drums. Airrace gained early traction with their debut concert at London’s Marquee Club in February 1983. Under the management of Peter Grant, the band underwent several line-up changes, including the addition of Jason Bonham on drums and Keith Murrell on vocals. Their first album, Shaft of Light, was released in 1984 by Atco Records, following a European tour with Queen. Despite critical acclaim, internal issues led to Airrace's disbandment in 1986. The group reformed in 2009 and released their second album, Back to the Start, in 2011 via Frontiers Records. In September 2017, they announced a new album for 2018, accompanied by a British tour with Lionheart.
