The Carpettes, an English punk rock band from Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, England, were formed in 1977 by Neil Thompson (vocals, guitar), George Maddison (bass), and Kevin Heard (drums). Their first release was a self-titled EP in 1977, followed by the single "Small Wonder" (1978). In 1978, they recorded two sessions for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show. The band signed to Beggars Banquet Records in 1979, releasing their debut album Frustration Paradise. A second album, Fight Amongst Yourselves, followed in 1980. The Carpettes split up in June 1981 but reunited in 1996 for the Holidays in the Sun festival, leading to a permanent reunion and the release of new albums including Fair Play To 'Em (2003) and The Carpettes (2005).
