Beatriz Mariana Torres, known professionally as Lolita Torres, was born on March 26, 1930, in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. She was a singer and actress who began her career at a young age, participating in school festivals and learning Spanish songs. At eight years old, she enrolled in the Academia Gaeta de Baile and studied singing. In 1940, Torres won a contest on Radio Splendid, which led to her first 78 rpm single featuring "Te lo juro" and "El gitano Jesús". Her acting debut came at age 14 in the film La danza de la fortuna. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Torres starred in numerous films. She retired from show business in the 1990s due to health issues and passed away on September 14, 2002. A month before her death, she was declared Ciudadana Ilustre de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
