María del Carmen García Galisteo, known professionally as Carmen Sevilla, was born on October 16, 1930, in Seville, Spain, and was a singer, dancer, and actress. She began her artistic journey at a young age and started her career as a singer in the 1940s with the help of Estrellita Castro. Sevilla established herself as a singer through the songs she performed in musical films, such as Jalisco canta en Sevilla (1949) and Violetas imperiales (1952). She released over fifteen studio albums spanning genres like copla, bolero, and tango. Her discography includes the albums Crucero de verano, Coplas de mi España, and Canta para usted, and the songs "Carmen de España", "Mis noches de Madrid", and "Estando contigo". Sevilla passed away from Alzheimer's disease complications on June 27, 2023.
