Tublatanka, a Slovak rock band, was formed in 1982 in Bratislava. The original lineup consisted of Martin "Maťo" Ďurinda, Palo Horváth, and Juraj "Ďuro" Černý. The trio began performing in local bars and released their self-titled debut album Tublatanka in 1985, which sold over 100,000 copies. Their second album, Skúsime to cez vesmír, reached Number 1 on the radio charts. In 1988, they released Žeravé znamenie osudu, which won the "Zlatý erb OPUS-u" award and featured the hit "Láska, drž ma nad hladinou". During the Velvet Revolution in November 1989, their song "Pravda víťazí" became an unofficial anthem. Notable albums from this period include Nebo – peklo – raj (1990) and Volanie divočiny (1992). The band's lineup changed over the years, with Horváth leaving in 1993 and Černý departing in 1995 due to drug complications.
