Dynamite Deluxe is a German hip-hop band from Hamburg, founded in 1997 by Samy Deluxe (real name Samy Sorge, born December 19, 1977 in Hamburg), DJ Dynamite (real name Jochen Niemann, also known as Joni Rewind) and Tropf (real name Kaspar Wiens, born April 10, 1976 in Hamburg). The group formed in Hamburg's Eimsbüttel district and became part of the so-called "Hamburg School" of hip-hop. In 1997, the trio released their first demo tape Dynamite Deluxe Demo, followed by the EP Pures Gift in 1998. The breakthrough came in 2000 with the debut album Deluxe Soundsystem, which reached number 4 in the German album charts and is considered a milestone in German-language rap. The singles "Ladies & Gentlemen", "Wie jetzt" and "Grüne Brille" are taken from the album. In 2001, the band receives the Echo in the national hip-hop/R&B category for Deluxe Soundsystem. After a break, Dynamite Deluxe returned in 2008 with the album TNT, which reached number 5 in the German charts. The singles "Dynamit!" and "Alles bleibt anders" are released. In the same year, the band goes on a TNT tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On November 7, 2008, Dynamite Deluxe give their farewell concert at Große Freiheit 36 in Hamburg.
