Burnt By The Sun, an American metalcore band from New Jersey, was formed in 1999 by drummer Dave Witte and guitarist John Adubato. Vocalist Mike Olender joined as they began working on their first songs, followed by bassist Ted Patterson and a second guitarist in February 2000. Their debut performance took place at the Metal Meltdown festival in March 2000. The band released their self-titled EP through Relapse Records in 2001, and their debut album Soundtrack to the Personal Revolution followed in 2002. They toured extensively with acts such as Killswitch Engage and Dying Fetus. In 2003, they released The Perfect Is the Enemy of the Good. After lineup changes, including the departure of Olender and Witte in September 2004, Burnt By The Sun continued to release music, culminating in their final album, Heart of Darkness, in 2009. The band disbanded later that year.
