Ion Dissonance, a Canadian metal band from Montreal, Quebec, was formed in 2001 by guitarists Antoine Lussier and Sébastien Chaput. Their first demo, .357, led to early success. In 2003, Ion Dissonance released their debut album, Breathing Is Irrelevant. The band's lineup stabilized with the addition of Jean-François "JF" Richard on drums, Gabriel McCaughry on vocals, and Miguel Valade on bass. In 2004, they embarked on their first major tour along the East Coast of North America. Their second album, Solace, was released in 2005 under Abacus Recordings. In 2007, they released Minus the Herd with a new vocalist, Kevin McCaughey, marking a shift towards a more groove-oriented sound. After a period of relative quiet, Ion Dissonance returned in 2016 with the release of "Cast the First Stone" under Good Fight Music, marking their fifth studio album.
