Matthias Arfmann is a German musician and record producer born in 1964 in Bremen. After training in piano and voice, he co-founded the ensemble Kastrierte Philosophen with Katrin Achinger in 1983. The group released nine studio albums, including Love Factory (1985) and Where Did Our Love Go (1996), before dissolving in 1997. Arfmann established the Knochenhaus-Studio in St. Pauli, where he recorded the Blumfeld singles “Zeitlupe” and “Traum:2”. During the 1990s, he worked with hip-hop acts such as Advanced Chemistry and Fischmob. He produced the albums Flashnizm (1994) and Bambule (1998) for Absolute Beginner, receiving an Echo Pop award nomination in 2000. Under the pseudonym Turtle Bay Country Club, he released the recordings Dub Decade (2002) and Universal Monstershark (2003). His solo discography included the remix album Recomposed (2005) and Ballet Jeunesse (2016). Arfmann produced the Jan Delay albums Mercedes Dance (2006) and Hammer & Michel (2013).
