Stanley Friberg, known professionally as Stan Freberg, was born on August 7, 1926, in Pasadena, California. He began his career doing impersonations on Cliffie Stone's radio show in 1943 and soon transitioned into voice acting for animation at Warner Brothers. His first notable cartoon voice work included roles in Roughly Squeaking (1946) and It's a Grand Old Nag (1947). Freberg's career spanned over seven decades, encompassing various roles as an actor, author, comedian, musician, puppeteer, radio personality, and advertising creative director. He is best known for his work on the television series Time for Beany, multiple characters in the Looney Tunes such as Pete Puma and Bertie, and a number of classic television commercials. Stan Freberg’s notable albums include Stan Freberg Presents: The United States of America, Vol. 1: The Early Years (1961), The Madison Ave. Werewolf (1963), and Freberg Underground! Show No. 1 (1966). He also released singles such as “Green Christmas” (1958) and “The Old Payola Roll Blues” (1960).Throughout his career, Freberg received numerous accolades including 21 Clio Awards, 3 Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, an Inkpot Award, and a Winsor McCay Award. He passed away on April 7, 2015.
