Frédéric Archibald Lamond, born on January 28, 1868, in Glasgow, Scotland, was a classical pianist and composer. He began studying music at a young age, showing early prowess that led to further training abroad at age 14. Lamond studied under Max Schwarz for piano and Anton Urspruch for composition at the Conservatory of Raff in Frankfurt, also receiving guidance from Clara Schumann and Hans von Bülow. In 1885, he traveled to Weimar to study with Franz Liszt. Lamond's career gained momentum with performances in Berlin and Vienna, where he was recognized for his interpretations of Beethoven and Brahms. He performed Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto in Moscow in 1893 and later became a professor at the Eastman School of Music in 1923. He passed away on February 21, 1948.
