The Petards were a German beat and rock band formed in 1964. The group originated at a school in Willingshausen bei Schwalmstadt from the Magic Stompers, featuring brothers Klaus and Horst Ebert, before renaming themselves The Petards. They released their first single "Baby Run, Run, Run" / "Pretty Miss" in August 1966. Their breakthrough came with "Shoot Me Up to the Moon" / "Lazy Moon" (1967), which gained significant airplay. In November 1967, they released their debut album, A Deeper Blue, followed by The Petards in 1968 under the Liberty label. The band's success included the Number 1 single "Pretty Liza", and they also organized the events that later became the Burg-Herzberg Festival. Other notable albums include Hitshock (1970) and Pet Arts (1971). They disbanded in 1972.
