Bryan Bowers, born on August 18, 1940, is an American musician known for his expertise with the autoharp. He gained widespread popularity among listeners of the comedy radio program The Dr. Demento Show with his 1980 recording of Mike Cross’s song "The Scotsman". Bowers' discography includes notable albums such as The View From Home (1977), Home, Home on the Road (1980), and By Heart (1982). In 1993, he was inducted into the Autoharp Hall of Fame. Bowers continued to release new recordings in subsequent years, including Bristlecone Pine (2006) and September in Alaska (2007), which received critical acclaim for his autoharp playing and song selection. He has maintained an active performance and teaching schedule throughout his career.
