Carmen Campagne (born 8 September 1959 in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada) was a Canadian singer specializing in French chanson for children. After leaving the family‑formed group Hart‑Rouge in 1986 to focus on teaching, she recorded her debut album Une voix pour les enfants in 1990, which earned Juno and Félix nominations the following year. The same year she released the hit "Un bon chocolat chaud" and began producing her own video cassettes, a pioneering move for Canadian children’s music. Between 1990 and 2008 she issued a steady stream of albums-including Rêves multicolores (1992), Le Tango des animaux (2003), and Dors Mon Petit, Dors (2007). In the late 1990s she signed with PolyGram for a French release of "Un bon chocolat chaud" and performed at venues such as the Olympia and the Casino de Paris. A financial collapse of her production company in 2003 halted her touring; she returned to the stage in 2009 with the television program Carmen à la campagne and released Sur la ferme de grand‑père in 2012. Carmen Campagne passed away on 4 July 2018 in Sainte‑Agathe‑des‑Monts after a battle with cancer; her legacy includes over one million records sold and posthumous tributes in French‑Canadian media.
