Adele Anthony, born on October 1, 1970, in Singapore, is an Australian-American violinist. She began playing the violin at age two and a half after her family moved to Tasmania. Her early training included studies with Lyndall Hendrickson and Beryl Kimber in Adelaide. At 13, she won the ABC Instrumental and Vocal Competition (now known as the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards) performing the Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. She later studied at the Juilliard School under Dorothy DeLay. In 1996, she won the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition. Her notable recordings include Philip Glass's Violin Concerto No. 1 (2000), Arvo Pärt’s Tabula Rasa with Gil Shaham and Neeme Järvi, and Ross Edwards' Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Maninyas / Sibelius's Violin Concerto in D minor. She is married to violinist Gil Shaham.
