David Owen Norris, FSA, born on June 16, 1953, in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England, is a British pianist, composer, academic, and broadcaster. He studied music at Keble College, Oxford, where he was an organ scholar, and later worked as a repetiteur at the Royal Opera House. His solo career includes performances at the Proms and with orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Norris has also presented the Playlist Series for BBC Radio 4. As an academic, he has held positions at institutions including the Royal College of Music and the University of Southampton. He also received the Gilmore Artist Award in 1991.
