Willem Vermandere, born on February 9, 1940 in Lauwe, Belgium, is a Belgian singer known for his songs written and sung in the dialect of the South of West-Flanders in Belgium. His early works include the album Liedjes Van De Westhoek (1968). Vermandere's repertoire featured notable tracks including "Klein ventje van Elverdinge" and "Lat mie maar lopen". He collaborated in a band with Freddy Desmedt and Pol Depoorter. In 1993, he wrote the song "Bange Blanke Man", which criticized racism and xenophobia. In 2009, he was nominated for the Radio 2 gallery of honor for a life filled with music. His later albums include Alles gaat over (2010) and De zanger & de muzikant Vincent Troch' (2012).
