Marcel Céline Gerard Edgard Vanthilt, known as Marcel Vanthilt, was born on August 24, 1957, in Lommel, Belgium. He is a singer who discovered punk music while studying political sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 1981, he formed the group Arbeid Adelt!, releasing albums such as Jonge Helden (1983) and Le chagrin en Quatre-vingt (1983). The group disbanded and reformed multiple times due to label disagreements and internal conflicts. In 1991, they signed with Virgin Records and released their CD, Des Duivels Oorkussen, which was commercially unsuccessful. Vanthilt also formed other groups, including the Yéh-yéhs and Groep Z. From 1987 to 1990, he lived in London and became a VJ for MTV Europe, co-hosting the program Cokes & Vanthilt with Ray Cokes.
